Board of Federation of Finnish Technology Industries approves pay settlements
The Board of the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries has approved the pay-settlements negotiated with the Finnish Metal Workers’ Union and the Federation of Professional and Managerial Staff (YTN). As a result of the agreements, company-specific pay-rises will be sought which are in line with the local situation regarding productivity and the economy. If agreement is not reached locally, a general pay-rise of 1 % and a discretionary pay-rise of 0.5 % will be paid.
Vuorineuvos Jorma Eloranta, Chairman of the Board of the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries, emphasises the benefit of locally agreed salary levels.
- In company-specific settlements, the situation of each enterprise and individual can be allowed for. In terms of the effort to preserve Finnish jobs, this is an excellent thing. The settlement model enables enterprises’ individual competitiveness, productivity and employment situations to be taken into account, Eloranta said.
Eloranta feels it is important that pay-rises and the outlook for employment and the economy continue to be investigated at a company level in the future.
- Company-specific settlements require a new culture, one which demands more of both employers and employees. It requires joint determination to develop productivity, profitability and competitiveness in order to strengthen companies’ capacity to employ staff, emphasised Eloranta.
According to Eloranta, local settlements provide a great opportunity to begin to build economic growth after the economic collapse.
- Economic global structural change is progressing inexorably, and, as a consequence, it is becoming ever more important to ensure the international competitiveness of the Finnish labour-market, Eloranta stressed.
