Collective agreement for salaried employees

The Federation of Technology Industries and the Union of Salaried Employees (TU) reached agreement on a collective agreement for salaried employees on 25 January 2010. The agreement is set to come into effect on 28 January 2010 and will remain in force until 30 September 2012.

The agreement includes measures for the development of the role of shop stewards and the promotion of equality and well-being in the workplace. For the first time, the collective agreement includes provision for paid paternity leave of a maximum of six working days, which will come into force on 1 October 2010.

According to the agreement, a pay rise of 0.5 % will come into effect on 1 February 2010, or the following pay day. Under certain conditions it is possible to agree to forego the pay rise or postpone its implementation.

Pay rises for the autumn of 2010 and 2011 will be negotiated in April and May of each respective year. The negotiations will be conducted on the basis of economic and employment forecasts and estimations of the success of the collective agreement in achieving its aims.

The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries and the Union of Salaried Employees have agreed to give the task of clarifying the scope of the application of the agreement to an outside party. After this work is complete, the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries, TU and the Federation of Professional and Managerial Staff (YTN) will assess the results in conjunction with the chairman of the group conducting the work. The purpose is to find agreement between the three organisations on the scope of the application of the agreement.

For the duration of this work, the handling of border disputes between YTN and TU is suspended, both at the local enterprise level and at the level of national labour market organisations. When a clear change in job description entails changing the collective agreement to which an employment contract belongs, this change and a change where the local interested parties are in agreement will be carried out.
